In 2026, HawaiiUSA awarded 25 scholarships to student members across the state, marking the largest scholarship class in the program’s 35-year history. The expansion comes after a significant increase in applications and an especially competitive pool of students pursuing higher education opportunities.
Each recipient received a $2,000 scholarship, bringing this year’s total scholarship investment to a record $50,000.
To celebrate this year’s scholars, HawaiiUSA recently welcomed recipients and their families to a special scholarship reception held at the credit union’s College Walk Financial Center community rooms. The gathering allowed students to connect, celebrate their achievements, and be recognized for their hard work alongside HawaiiUSA leadership, employees, and their supporters.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients,” said Greg Young, President and CEO of HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union. “Their resilience, dedication, and commitment to their future reflect the very spirit of our community. As a credit union founded by educators, we believe investing in students is one of the most meaningful ways we can support Hawaii’s future.”
Recipients included high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students pursuing a wide range of educational and career pathways. Students were selected based on academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, community service, letters of recommendation, and active HawaiiUSA membership.
Since launching the scholarship program in 1990, HawaiiUSA has awarded 629 scholarships totaling $981,500 to help students across Hawaii pursue their educational goals.
Congratulations to this year’s scholarship recipients. HawaiiUSA is proud to support students working toward a brighter future for themselves, their families, and our communities.
