For HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union, being part of a community means more than having a branch there. It means showing up, lending a hand and helping care for the places we share.

That spirit was on display on October 24, when HawaiiUSA employees joined City and County of Honolulu volunteers for a community beautification effort in Chinatown, home to HawaiiUSA’s main College Walk branch.

Together, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean and refresh public spaces around College Walk and Kila Kalikimaka Mall. The work included cleaning and painting tables and pillars along College Walk and clearing litter and debris from surrounding areas.

The project brought HawaiiUSA employees together with City representatives and members of the Honolulu Police Department’s Community Policing Team, demonstrating what can happen when businesses and community partners work together toward a shared goal.

The effort also supported the City’s ongoing commitment to improving Chinatown and creating a cleaner and more welcoming neighborhood for those who live, work, visit and do business there.

As HawaiiUSA celebrates its 90th anniversary, the Chinatown beautification effort reflects the credit union’s longstanding philosophy of “people helping people” and its commitment to giving back through service, partnerships and community involvement.

For HawaiiUSA, taking care of our communities starts close to home.
