What is Unclaimed Property?

  • When an account has no owner-generated activity for five (5) years, Hawaii law requires financial institutions to transfer the funds to the State of Hawaii as unclaimed property.
  • This process helps protect account owners, but it also means you’ll need to go through the State to recover your funds if no action is taken.

Why did I receive a notice?

You received a notice because your account has not had recent owner-generated activity and may be reported as unclaimed property this year.

To prevent this, you simply need to complete an activity, such as logging in to Digital Banking by October 16, 2026.

How do I reactivate my account?

It’s quick and easy. Complete one of the following actions:

Option 1: Log in to Digital Banking by October 16, 2026. Most people complete this in just a few minutes.

  • Enroll in Digital Banking (if you’re not already enrolled)

Option 2: Respond to your letter

  • Sign and date the response portion of the letter you received and return it to the address provided.

Option 3: Contact HawaiiUSA

  • Visit any HawaiiUSA branch, or
  • Call our Member Solution Center on Oahu: (808) 534.4300 or Toll-free (800) 379.1300

Taking any of these actions lets us know you'd like to keep your account active and helps prevent your funds from being turned over as unclaimed property.

What happens if no action is taken?

Also, the Credit Union will charge a non-refundable handling fee if no action is taken by the deadline.

To recover your funds, you’ll need to:
